May was a month of progress, at least in England where the easing of lockdown allowed the housing market to reopen. This, of course, came with its own challenges and thus our PR focus during the month was very much on the Government support for the housing market in general and conveyancing firms specifically.
Prior to the announcement of lockdown the CA was urging the Government to look at an extension to the furlough scheme and to specific changes which would support the sector in dealing with the existing workload and preparing for the unknown – i.e. what level of business might be coming over the horizon.
On top of this was the importance of guidance for all property professionals, and conveyancing firms specifically, in how they work within a post-lockdown environment. The CA was heavily involved in the product of such guidance and hopefully all firms have now availed themselves of this.
