Progress has been made in a number of key areas during July, notably the Law Commission’s changes to leasehold and support for commonhold, but also the Land Registry’s acceptance of Qualified Electronic Signatures in conveyancing and it’s release of authoritative data on Registered Leases and Restrictive Covenants data sets for England and Wales.
All of the above is welcomed by the CA and show the power of effective lobbying in these areas, not just by the Association itself but a wide range of members, organisations and other trade bodies.
The Association continues to push its key messages across various PR platforms, notably in terms of upfront property information provision and forging towards a 21st Century conveyancing process.
Also this month, the CA expressed some frustration at the differing speeds being adopted in order to open up the housing market, specifically by the Welsh Government. Added to the concern that this might mean the Welsh housing market takes much longer to recover, was the news of no corresponding stamp duty holiday for additional property owners in Wales, which would differ from the other three countries.
