October has been a month dominated by one topic – the stamp duty holiday and the combined efforts of the housing industry to draw attention to next year’s deadline and to urge the Government to reconsider whether an extension or a taper wouldn’t be in the best interests of all.
The CA has been working with a large number of trade associations, member firms, industry organisations, and others, in order to highlight the current amount of work being undertaken and the likelihood – if the deadline isn’t changed – that this ‘run rate’ will mean thousands upon thousands of transactions will not qualify for the holiday.
Our media work has focused a lot on this area and you will see a significant amount of coverage across both trade and national media on this topic. This will continue to be a key focus for the Association in the weeks to come.
