February was another month dominated by calls for the stamp duty holiday to be extended/tapered or smoothed. At the time of writing, the entire industry is waiting for an announcement to be made in the Budget on the 3rd of March – the CA worked with the BBC in February to draw attention to what is potentially at stake for many people who may not complete before the end of March.
Beth Rudolf appeared in a BBC website news story, Radio 5’s Wake Up to Money, and on the BBC 1 o’clock News and the BBC News Channel, talking about the need for the Government to look at a taper.
The CA is also using this time to promote the need for ongoing action to improve the home moving process – this will be a key part of the media strategy in the future particularly when the news around the stamp duty deadline is revealed. This month Beth talked about the potential benefits that might come with reservation agreements, and February also saw the formal launch of the Conveyancing Task Force.
