May has been a very interesting month for the CA as we have introduced our new Non-Executive Chair, Nicky Heathcote, and begun to outline Nicky’s priorities for her tenure and how she will help shape the Association’s workstreams in the future. The press release to announce her appointment was covered extensively, plus we were able to conduct an interview with Today’s Conveyancer, and Nicky’s first blog in her position is now available to read on the CA website.
Throughout the rest of the month there has been a growing interest from journalists around conveyancing firm fee charging particularly in light of the end of June stamp duty deadline. We have provided thoughts to a number of publications, including national newspapers on the growing level of work involved for conveyancers, the tight deadlines they are expected to hit, and how supply and demand is going to impact on pricing.
Finally, there was significant moment of success for the CA and other stakeholders with the inclusion of Leasehold Reform in the Queen’s Speech – an ongoing workstream for the CA but one which is still worth celebrating.
