Leasehold reform has been a major focus for the CA throughout July, particularly in light of the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) investigation into the sale of leasehold houses which has so far resulted in two firms, Aviva and Persimmon, formally committing to making changes for the benefits of leaseholders.
There seems no doubt that more developers will follow and the CA this month issued press releases urging consumers to check in with their conveyancers regarding their leasehold house cases, but also a wider release requesting that the Government now produces legislation to formally deliver the leasehold reform it has promised.
The CA has also highlighted feedback from a consumer survey into the home buying process in our article for Today’s Conveyancer which again sets out some of the potential solutions consumers want to see before and during the process.
